Frequently Asked Questions

Clear answers to the most common questions about our garage conversions, process, pricing, and timescales. If you have any other queries not answered here, just get in touch

In most cases — no.

Most garage conversions fall under permitted development because we aren’t changing the footprint of the building.

If the scope of your project may push it into the realms of needing planning permission, typically due to external finishes that are not necessarily in keeping with the current  appearance of your home, then we can advise how best to proceed.

Yes — and we take care of it for you.

A garage conversion creates habitable space, which means insulation, fire safety, structure and electrics all need to meet the correct standards.

We handle the Building Control process from start to finish.

Most installations take 10–15 working days depending on specification.

There’s no endless disruption, multiple trades disappearing for weeks, or half-finished rooms.

All projects are quoted individually depending on size, condition and specification — but as a guide, our Classic specification typically starts at around £18000.00 for a single garage, putting it at less than half the cost of the same square footage created with a traditional extension.

Prices are always transparent and fixed before work begins.

That’s exactly what we fix.

Our system includes moisture control, insulation, heating,  flooring, and ventilation if required.

No. Whilst it will share the same footprint as the existing garage, a Snug Space conversion is designed to look and feel like it was always part of your home — not like a boxed-in outbuilding.

We typically use high-quality LVT flooring (wood, herringbone, tile, or concrete-effect) or carpet as the finishing layer on a moisture resistant deck, overlaying an insulated floor. Within reason, any flooring finish is achievable to make your space truly unique.

Yes. We can build hidden storage solutions or zone part of the room depending on your needs.

And if you do need a storage solution relocatable outside, we’ll help advise on options.

It is inescapable that your garage needs to be clear before the conversion can begin. We appreciate that this can be a little daunting so on request, we work with local removals companies to make this frictionless by arranging for your garage to be emptied, the contents stored and then returned when you are ready. You can visit the storage location to sort your items in the meantime. We can also arrange for the construction of an outdoor storage shed to hold items that you want to retain but don’t want back in your home.

Yes — as long as the structure is sound.

We can work on:

  • Attached garages
  • Detached garages
  • Double garages
  • Tandem layouts
  • New-build conversions
  • Older properties

Many garages have home infrastructure within them. We work around these safely, creating discrete housing for them to blend in with your design. If necessary, we can arrange for them to be relocated where practical to do so.

Almost anything:

  • Home office
  • Gym
  • Cinema room
  • Games room
  • Music / audio studio
  • Teen den
  • Children’s playroom
  • Parent retreat
  • Craft / maker studio
  • Guest suite

If you can dream it, we’ve probably already designed it.

Yes — because you’re turning unusable storage into real habitable square footage.

National data + agent feedback suggests an uplift of 10–15% depending on location and finish.

We insulate beyond the minimum standard — not just to “pass”, but to make the room comfortable year-round and energy efficient.

No.

We are specialists — our own trained team installs every project. You never get a random builder turning up.

Yes. We provide layouts, finish selections and optional 3D visuals so you can see how the room will feel before we start.

Absolutely. We offer a set of curated packages, but everything can be tailored — from lighting to flooring to internal design.

Lighting, sockets, heating options, data, consumer unit upgrades if needed — and everything is certified as part of the project. In the popular Classic specification this includes 4 double sockets, 8 downlighters, LED cornicing and a modern electric radiator.

Yes. All workmanship is covered by a minimum 5-year guarantee and most components carry manufacturer warranties.
